What does the masterclass cost?
The fee is Rs 5,000 MUR per person. This includes two full days of training (9am–4pm both days), a printed course manual, morning tea, a hot lunch on both days, refreshments throughout, hands-on practicals in our working greenhouse, and a certificate of completion.
Where is the course held?
At Lighthouse School, Calebasses, Mauritius. Day 1 runs in the classroom; Day 2 splits between the classroom and the on-site greenhouse for the hands-on practical sessions.
When does the next cohort run?
Thursday 26 and Friday 27 June 2026, 9am to 4pm both days. We run a single, small cohort to keep the practicals manageable and personal.
Do I need prior aquaponics experience to attend?
No prior experience is required. The masterclass is designed for hobbyists, entrepreneurs and DIY practitioners looking to establish their first pilot aquaponics module. We cover the foundational principles before moving into practical application.
Who teaches the masterclass?
The course is led by Justin Hess, founder and director of Afraponix, with over two decades of hands-on experience in commercial aquaponics across South Africa, Mozambique and southern Africa.
What should I bring?
Just yourself, a notebook and pen. Closed-toe shoes are recommended for the greenhouse practicals on Day 2. The printed manual, all meals and refreshments, and all practical equipment are provided.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes — every participant who completes both days receives a printed certificate of completion from Afraponix.
