From Ichthys to Afraponix.
Afraponix builds on the legacy of Ichthys Aquaponics, founded in 2004 — one of the first companies on the continent to commercialise integrated aquaculture and hydroponics. Two decades on, our team designs, manufactures and supports turnkey aquaponics systems for institutional, commercial and government clients.
Our work supports food security, climate resilience and job creation through closed-loop production that uses up to 90% less water than conventional agriculture, minimises chemical inputs, and maximises space — without sacrificing yield.
We’re not aquaponics tourists. We’ve been operating systems, training operators and learning from real-world failures since well before aquaponics became fashionable. That experience is the foundation everything we ship is built on.
